The highly anticipated “John Wick: Chapter 4” has finally begun filming, and fans of the series have gotten an extra helping of excitement with the news that none other than Scott Adkins will join the movie. This also comes after the news of Donnie Yen and Hiroyuki Sanada also joining the fourth chapter of the series. Suffice to say, if “John Wick 4” wasn’t already everyone’s most anticipated martial arts and action flick of 2022, it most certainly should be now!
“John Wick 4” Now Underway…
News of the next “John Wick” beginning production was revealed through the franchise’s official Twitter page with the caption “It’s begun. #JohnWick4 is now in production.” Meanwhile, news of Scott Adkins boarding the movie was revealed in Deadline. Needless to say, the notion of Scott coming aboard the next “John Wick” has sent shockwaves of excitement through the minds of action fans already on a high from news of Donnie Yen and Hiroyuki Sanada joining up.
Scott Adkins’ Love of the “John Wick” Franchise
The timing of Scott’s involvement being made public is also interesting, with Scott himself having recently listed Keanu Reeves as one of the greatest action stars of all time in an interview with Michael Scott on the Adkins Undisputed podcast along with sharing his love of the “John Wick” series.
John Wick Keeps Getting Better and Better!
Considering how information of this sort tends to be a bit ahead of whenever it’s reported in the trades, Scott’s comments look like a subtle tease that he would be gaining membership at The Continental. Either way, the next “John Wick” simply keeps looking better and better. Scott will confirm it himself on social media or on his YouTube channel, “The Art of Action “ which you can also dig into.
“John Wick 3 – Parabellum” Took the Series to New Heights of Action…
The “John Wick” movies had a humble start with the first installment becoming a major sleeper hit in the fall of 2014. Since then, the series has continued an upward trend with the second and third installments outdoing the last. “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” in particular took the series to “Mad Max: Fury Road”-levels of out-of-this-world action, and while the COVID-19 pandemic ended up pushing the production and release of the fourth movie of the series back by a year, who could argue at this point that it doesn’t look worth the wait?
Scott Adkins Prepaid His Dues for ‘Continental’ Credits
While the role Scott could be portraying in “Chapter 4” remains unknown, the “Undisputed” movies alone would constitute paying one’s Continental dues for a whole year, at least. Scott has made some of the most incredible martial arts films since the turn of the century, and created truly iconic genre characters like “Yuri Boyka” and “Casey Bowman” of the “Ninja” movies.

He also finally got to go head-to-head with Donnie Yen in 2019’s “Ip Man 4: The Finale“, so fans will obviously relish seeing them back together again either as allies or enemies, with Donnie’s character reportedly portraying an old friend of John’s. Add in Hiroyuki Sanada of “The Last Samurai” fame, and who will also be seen in the upcoming “Bullet Train” (helmed by one-half of the original “John Wick” equation, David Leitch), and there’s no excuse for one’s heart not to start THUMPING LOUD for “John Wick: Chapter 4”!
