Comic book movies might seem to be a dime a dozen these days, BUT the upcoming “Accident Man”, the passion project of British action star Scott Adkins, is gearing up for something pretty special to take viewers on a wild ride of hardcore action, vengeance and black comedy, as you can see in the film’s newly released trailer below!
One of the signature characters of the now defunct British comic publisher, Toxic!, “Accident Man” follows the exploits of tough-as-nails assassin Mike Fallon, who specializes in making his killings look like accidents. When Fallon’s wife is murdered, he embarks on a revenge mission to uncover which of his fellow assassins carried out the hit.
The “Accident Man” series first debuted in the pages of Toxic! in 1991. Creator Pat Mills was one of the early developers of Britain’s 2000 AD title and its staple character, Judge Dredd, and is widely regarded as “The Godfather of British comics”. The film adaptation of the series has been the long-gestating passion project of Scott Adkins, who, on top of portraying the title character also produced and co-wrote the film. Scott had previously spoken of the project at last year’s premiere of “Doctor Strange”, which you can see below, and we previously covered the film’s panel at MCM Comic Con in London earlier this year.
Appearing alongside Scott in “Accident Man” are Ray Park and Michael Jai White as the duo Mack and Mick, “Lady Bloodfight” star Amy Johnston as Jane the Ripper, “Twilight” alumnus Ashley Greene as Fallon’s ally Charlie Adams, and Ray Stevenson of “Punisher: War Zone” and the “Thor” movies as Big Ray, under the direction of stunt veteran Jesse Johnson and the excellent Tim Man on board as fight choreographer.
The film is also notably one in a series of martial arts ensembles Scott and Jesse have lent their talents to. This year’s “Savage Dog” teamed them with Marko Zaror of “Undisputed 3” and MMA legend Cung Le, and the upcoming “Triple Threat” boasts the most expansive ensemble of all, with Jesse once again directing while Scott is joined onscreen by Tony Jaa , Iko Uwais, Tiger Chen, Michael Jai White, Jeeja Yanin, Celina Jade, and former UFC Middleweight champion Michael Bisping, with Tim Man once again on hand as fight choreographer.
“Accident Man” is set to release on February 6th, 2018. Stay tuned for more info on the film as it…accidentally arrives, we guarantee it! Fan of comic book movie adaptations and epic fights?
