In 2012, “The Man with the Iron Fists” debuted to a largely lukewarm response from fans and critics. The story of the Blacksmith, however, will soon be continuing with the film’s upcoming sequel “The Man with the Iron Fists 2: The Sting of the Scorpion”, which recently released its first trailer on YouTube.
RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan reprises his role of the Blacksmith from the first film, and hands the duties of director over to Roel Reine. He is joined in the sequel by the world’s quintessential Asian villain, Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa, along with Ocean Hou of “Man of Tai Chi” and Dustin Nguyen, among others.
Judging by the trailer, the sequel has a somewhat darker, more serious tone in comparison with its predecessor, and Nguyen is particularly prominent in the trailer and really gets a chance to show off his Jeet Kune Do skills. The former star of “21 Jump Street” has transitioned into something of a rising actor in recent years. Following his villainous appearance in “The Rebel”, he stepped into heroic shoes with his directorial debut “Once Upon A Time in Vietnam”, which also featured Jason Ninh Cao, producer of the upcoming “Iron Monk”. Nguyen will also be seen opposite Scott Adkins, Kane Kosugi, and Gary Daniels in next year’s “Zero Tolerance”. It’ll certainly be interesting to see him fight alongside the Blacksmith!
