Sweeping aerial shots of Malta? Assassination traps right out of a “Home Alone” movie? Cackling clowns wielding cinder blocks on a stick? Martial arts fights orchestrated with pinpoint precision by a Jackie Chan Stunt Team alumni? Only a trailer for Mike Fallon’s next mission could treat viewers to all of that and more, and that trailer is upon us at last to usher in the arrival of “Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday”.
Hitting home media and digital platforms on October 14th, “Hitman’s Holiday” is rearing to take action fans on an even more over-the-top ride of insane martial arts and unabashedly R-rated comedy with Scott Adkins’ long-awaited return as Mike Fallon, alternately known as the Accident Man. The trailer below, of course, makes “Hitman’s Holiday” this fall’s undoubted, pre-eminent action-comedy, which a quick click of the play button will swiftly make clear!
Mike Fallon’s Move to Malta Goes Awry
Following 2018’s “Accident Man”, the trailer for “Hitman’s Holiday” shows Mike Fallon has left London and taken on a new identity in Malta while continuing to fine-tune his assassin methods with his ally Finicky Fred (Perry Benson).
However, Mike and Fred soon find themselves conscripted into a mission to protect the wayward son of one of Malta’s big crime bosses from assassins on his trail. Mike also has a secondary mandate of his own in reconnecting with an estranged father figure suddenly dropping into the mix of his new situation.
“Hitman’s Holiday” Turns the Comic Book Assassin Dial Up to 11
Based on the “Accident Man” comic strip from the U.K.’s comic book imprint “Toxic!”, Mike Fallon and his fellow assassin all carry out their hits with a trait unique to them. Mic and Mac (Michael Jai White and Ray Park) brought their Special Forces skills to the game while Jane the Ripper (Amy Johnston) built a reputation for keeping what might be called severed “trophies” from her victims.
In “Hitman’s Holiday”, Mike is up against a whole new crew of very theatrical enemies. Wong Siu-Ling (Sarah Chang) is known as “The Screaming Banshee”, while Yendi (Faisal Mohammed) carries the title of “The Vampire”. Silas (Peter Lee Thomas) also bears the ominous and probably self-explanatory distinction of “The San Francisco Strangler”, while Poco the Killer Clown (Beau Fowler) brings the sinister grin of Pennywise to his killings with a weapon pulled right out of a construction site.
Oyumi a.k.a. “The Ninja” (Andy Long Nguyen) also brings his nimble fighting skills against the overwhelmed but always cool Mike Fallon. With them and Big Ray (Ray Stevenson), aka “The Guv’nor” also dropping in, Mike’s got his hands full in keeping up with his enemies and allies at all times.
Gorgeous Shots of Malta and Amazing Action Sequences
Directing by George and Harry Kirby, following Jesse Johnson as director of the first “Accident Man”, the trailer for “Hitman’s Holiday” already positions the movie as a love letter to Malta.
The action scenes seen in the trailer also show Scott and crew at their most unleashed warriors ways. While “Accident Man” was more of a whodunit mystery caper of Mike trying to uncover the identity of his ex-girlfriend’s killer, “Hitman’s Holiday” seems to be more of an on-the-run type of story.
Mike’s impromptu role of the bodyguard of a crime boss’s son certainly makes it a fitting pace for “Hitman’s Holiday” to move at, and his fellow assassins determination on their own mission holds Mike’s feet to the fire to keep him, Finicky Fred, and the crime boss’s kid one step ahead of their pursuers.
Though Scott Adkins puts his heart and soul into every action role he’s ever done, “Accident Man” is very near and dear to his heart, Scott himself having been instrumental in Mike Fallon’s comic book tales being brought to life on film with both the first “Accident Man” and “Hitman’s Holiday”.
With “Hitman’s Holiday”, he and everyone involved look like they’ve really outdone themselves with what looks to be 2022’s most gloriously manic action-comedy.
Hopefully, George and Harry Kirby are able to break out as action filmmakers with “Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday” as much as Jesse Johnson before them. KFK readers and anyone else perusing the internet, take notice – Malta’s the place to be on October 14th, with Mike Fallon back in action in “Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday”!
