Rogue One trailer arrives!

The world saw the Force awaken this past holiday season with the seventh chapter in the “Star Wars” saga, but chapter eight, titled “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, is right around the corner, and the newly released trailer will make the wait that much easier!

The immense influence of martial arts on the “Star Wars” series is obvious (the underutilization of “The Raid” trio in “The Force Awakens” notwithstanding) but what makes the newest instalment an absolute must-see for all martial arts fans is the presence of none other than Asia’s reigning action king, Donnie Yen, who can be seen doing his slick stuff in the trailer above!

While “The Force Awakens” took the “Star Wars” saga forward from the end of “Return of the Jedi”, the newest instalment will effectively serve as Episode 3.5, along with being the first in the “Star Wars” anthology series, spin-offs from the main “Star Wars” franchise that will reportedly include films focusing on characters like Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Taking place between “Revenge of the Sith” and “A New Hope”, the film will focus on a cadre of space pirates on a daring mission to steal the plans for the Death Star before the Empire can complete its construction. Darth Vader is rumoured to make an appearance, which will hopefully entail a lightsaber duel with Donnie, although a return of the incredible Ray Park  for the same purpose would certainly be most welcome too!

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” hits UK and US theatres on December 16th. Stay tuned for more info on the film as its force arriveth!
