New “John Wick: Chapter 4” Trailer & “Wick Week” Round-Up!

Last week, it was announced that “Wick Week” would commence online, treating audiences to a shower of new information and marketing about 2023’s most anticipated action movie, “John Wick: Chapter 4”.

Naturally, a week’s worth of John Wick goodies, including a brand new trailer, is a grand week indeed – especially with Scott Adkins’ Killa finally being revealed. Check out the latest trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 4” below!

“John Wick: Chapter 4” is an Epic Showdown

One of the big reveals of Wick Week was the news that “John Wick: Chapter 4” will be the longest installment of the franchise to date, and by a wide margin, with a running time of some 169 minutes.

Few action fans would find incentive to complain about the idea of John Wick kicking butt for nearly three hours, especially with Donnie Yen, Marko Zaror, Scott Adkins, and Hiroyuki Sanada along for the ride. Still, the long runtime feels expected with the set up at the end of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”, with John and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) joining forces with the High Table being their shared target.

The new trailer for “John Wick: Chapter 4” most certainly promises that the extended run time of the movie will be time well spent for fans of the series.

John’s latest battle is full of martial arts fights, sword-slashing, and gun-fu galore, and some of the wildest stunts yet seen in the series. A section of the trailer in which Keanu Reeves has a fight scene with Marko Zaror and other opponents on a busy street as cars speed by has the usual 87 Eleven action magic written all over it, but make no mistake – the creation of “John Wick: Chapter 4” was far from easy.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” was Keanu Reeves’ Hardest Movie

Keanu Reeves’ career as an action hero has produced such classics as “Point Break”, “Speed”, “The Matrix” franchise, and the first three “John Wick” movies. But from his perspective, the physical challenges of all of them pale in comparison to “John Wick: Chapter 4”. Keanu described it as both his most physically demanding role, and the most action-packed “John Wick” movie yet in an interview with Total Film.

Of course, all of that hard work on the part of Keanu, director Chad Stahelski, and the cast and crew of the film looks to have been well-worth it.

Keanu himself feels that way, calling the finely-tuned action of “John Wick: Chapter 4” “banana cakes”, and it most certainly looks crazier and more mind-blowing than ever. Of course, the stunning action seen in “John Wick: Chapter 4’s” trailer wasn’t the only big surprise of Wick Week.

“John Wick: Chapter 4” Behind-The-Scenes

Wick Week also brought two behind-the-scenes Q&As with Keanu Reeves, courtesy of IGN, on the making of “John Wick: Chapter 4”. Keanu provides an in-depth glimpse into bringing the world of John Wick to life for a fourth time, with some added glimpses of the action and stunts of the movie showcased as well.

Needless to say, it thoroughly serves its purpose of driving the excitement for “John Wick: Chapter 4” through the stratosphere a month ahead of its debut. Check out IGN’s BTS videos with Keanu below!

THAT’S Scott Adkins?!

Up until now, Scott Adkins’ character ‘Killa’ has been kept out of view in the marketing for “John Wick: Chapter 4”, but that changed during Wick Week.

Killa can now be seen in both the trailer and a character poster, with Scott donning facial prosthetics and a fat suit that render him borderline unrecognizable.

Scott’s undoubtedly jaw-dropping action scenes in “John Wick: Chapter 4” are still being kept almost completely hidden, with Killa only appearing in the trailer once to snarl “Baba Yaga” with a menacing grin on his face.

Of course, with Scott taking such a dramatic left turn in his on-screen appearance for “John Wick: Chapter 4”, holding back on finally showing him proved to be a smart move. Undoubtedly, keeping his action scenes out of view until just the right moment will produce the same desired impact for such a new Scott Adkins character as Killa.

What’s Next for John Wick?

Following “John Wick: Chapter 4”, Keanu Reeves will return in the upcoming spin-off, “Ballerina”, alongside Ana de Armas and returning “John Wick” alumni Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Anjelica Huston.

The “John Wick” spin-off TV series “The Continental” is also on the way, while the world also awaits news about “John Wick: Chapter 5”.

With all of that lying further down the road for the Baba Yaga, “John Wick: Chapter 4” is his immediate future, and it already looks like the Mount Everest of 2023’s action movies.

Such is to be expected from the Baba Yaga, but it still cannot be overstated how masterful the marketing for the next chapter of the series has been. If “Banana cakes” is the operative term for “John Wick: Chapter 4”, Martial arts and fans are gonna be in for 2023’s best sundae by far!
