Jackie Chan’s Emotional Stunt Team Reunion!

The 2017 Academy Awards have just come and gone, with a flub that won’t soon (or ever) be forgotten, and among those in attendance was the legendary Jackie Chan, whose presence at the awards ceremony came as something of a capstone to his Lifetime Achievement Oscar. As emotionally fulfilling as such an accolade no doubt is, Jackie was also recently brought to tears in a reunion kept so clandestine, even he didn’t see it coming…

During an appearance on the Chinese show “The Negotiator”, Jackie viewed a compilation video of his original stunt team, with members speaking of Jackie’s humility, generosity and the role he played in kickstarting their careers. Following the video’s conclusion, Jackie began to speak at length about his appreciation for his stunt team, with its current members gathered behind him. What came next took him and those watching by complete surprise – Jackie turned around to discover that his stunt team’s original members, whom he just mentioned he’d not seen in years, were now suddenly standing right behind him!

As you can see in the video of the event above, Jackie was quite literally moved to tears by this most unexpected reunion. The studio audience was no less touched by the sudden turn of events, and moved to give Jackie and his compatriots a standing ovation.

Jackie continues to amaze audiences across the world with the recently released “Kung Fu Yoga” and with the upcoming “The Foreigner” and “The LEGO Ninjago Movie”, his unexpected reunion with his original stunt team is a reminder of just how far he’s come and just how many stunt performers have gotten their start under his wing. From his response, it’s also clear just how grateful he is for the role his daredevil collaborators had in helping him create some of the most incredible stunts and action (ever) in a body of work ranging from “Drunken Master” to “Police Story” to “Rush Hour”, and everything in between.
