Street Fighter sequel officially greenlit!

When “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist”debuted on Machinima’s YouTube channel this past May, the immediate consensus was that it had done something that neither of the previous “Street Fighter” films could – namely, do the “Street Fighter” series justice in a live-action format. However, it can now be said that “Assassin’s Fist” has accomplished something else that both of its predecessors didn’t – unlike “Street Fighter: The Movie” and “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li”, “Assassin’s Fist” is getting a sequel!

The announcement of the follow-up to Joey Ansah and Christian Howard’s acclaimed web-series came yesterday at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con. The sequel series, aptly titled “Street Fighter: World Warrior”, will continue where “Assassin’s Fist” left off, and will follow Ryu and Ken’s “Musha Shogyo” (Warrior’s Pilgrimage) after leaving the dojo of their wise master Gouken, as well as the duo’s involvement in the World Warrior tournament.

In addition to the primary characters of “Assassin’s Fist” returning for “World Warrior”, the sequel series will also feature such fan favorite characters as Chun Li, Guile, Sagat, and the series arch-villain, M. Bison, along with his nefarious criminal organization, Shadaloo.

Ansah and the “Assassin’s Fist” team also teased some of the extras that will be featured on the series upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release, which will take place in late October for most English-speaking territories. The features will include a director’s commentary with Ansah, bloopers, four deleted scenes, and most intriguing of all, the series’ epilogue. Yes, it appears that even if you’ve watched every episode of the series a dozen times, there’s still one more episode that fans have not yet had a glimpse at!

“World Warrior” will tentatively be released sometime between late 2015 and early 2016. Until then be sure to follow the series official Facebook page for more information on “Assassin’s Fist” and “World Warrior”!
