SPL2 trailer is here!

2015 is shaping up to be a big year for Tony Jaa. In just a few weeks, his first English-language outing, the highly anticipated “Furious 7”, is set to debut, followed very shortly thereafter by his second, “Skin Trade”. However, right as he’s making landfall in the West, Mr. Jaa is also moving further East with the upcoming “Sha Po Lang 2: A Time for Consequences”, which will mark his Hong Kong debut. It’s certainly been well-worth the wait, judging by the newly released and absolutely phenomenal trailer for the film!

Jaa co-stars in the film alongside veteran Hong Kong action star Wu Jing, and the official synopsis reveals what fans can expect:

“After busting a local gangster Hong in an undercover operation, hard-boiled cop Kit is captured by Hong’s men and wakes up in jail in Thailand facing a life sentence. While in police custody, Hong strikes a deal with Kit’s supervisor Wah to trade his freedom for Kit’s. Wah traces Kit to Thailand and manages to convince to new prison guard Chai to help save Kit because Kit is one of the few eligible bone marrow donors who can save Chai’s daughter, who’s suffering from leukemia. Hong breaks out of jail and flees to Thailand and order Kit’s executive. When Kit learns of Hong’s jailbreak, he’s determined to bring him to justice.”

Teaming up Thailand’s king of action with a Hong Kong vet like Wu Jing is a no brainer, and the action-packed trailer definitely positions “SPL 2” a must-see. Wu Jing will also be seen later this year taking on Scott Adkins in the upcoming “Wolf Warrior”, which he also directed. Following a debilitating leg injury and subsequent surgery last year, the former Beijing Wushu Team member was possibly looking at retirement from martial arts films, but he is now confirmed to be back on his feet, and it’s fantastic to see him fighting alongside Tony Jaa in the trailer with both men clearly in superb condition!

“Sha Po Lang 2: A Time for Consequences” is set to be released on June 18th in China. Stay tuned for news about its release in the English-speaking world as it arrives!
