Gina Carano joins Kickboxer reboot!

The reboot of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s beloved cult classic “Kickboxer” just keeps getting bigger! Just last week came the news that Van Damme himself would appear in the film as the wise Muay Thai mentor Xian Chow. Then came the news that Darren Shahlavi had come aboard as well. Now, the film’s stellar cast has just gotten even better with the addition of women’s MMA legend Gina Carano!

Dubbed the face of women’s MMA during her fighting days, Carano has successfully transitioned into action films in recent years. Following a brief appearance opposite Michael Jai White in “Blood and Bone“, Carano landing her first lead in 2012’s “Haywire“. 2013 also saw her anchor “In the Blood” as well as appear in the monster hit “Fast and Furious 6”.

Carano will reportedly portray a fight promoter in the film. Whether she’s in league with the villainous Tong Po is unclear, but her authentic Muay Thai skills are most certainly the equal of his!

“Kickboxer” is currently filming and will be released sometime in 2015.
