Street Fighter: Resurrection trailer!

For the last year, fans of all things “Street Fighter” have been breathlessly anticipating two things  – news on “Street Fighter: World Warrior”, the forthcoming sequel to the acclaimed web-series “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist“, and the release of the latest chapter of the games series, Street Fighter V. Fortunately, it looks as though Capcom and Machinima has decided to kill two birds with one stone with the newly released teaser trailer for the upcoming mini-series, “Street Fighter: Resurrection”, which you can see below!

Street Fighter loyalists will instantly recognize the character seen above as none other than Charlie Nash, portrayed here by Alain Moussi, who will also be seen soon in the role of Kurt Sloane in the upcoming “Kickboxer: Vengeance”, alongside the original film’s leading man, Jean-Claude Van Damme!

As it turns out, “Resurrection” will apparently serve as both a tie-in for Street Fighter V as well as an interim instalment of “Assassin’s Fist” before the release of “World Warrior”. “Assassin’s Fist” director and co-creator Joey Ansah released the statement below on the series’ official Facebook page that gives fans a better look at where “Resurrection” will fit into the series continuity:

Dear SFAF fans. Street Fighter: Resurrection is a highly ambitious, action packed, live-action mini series which serves as a narrative prologue to the events of SFV. With the new game coming out and interest from both Machinima and Capcom for me to make a tie in, I couldn’t pass up such an exciting prospect to leap forward a decade after the events of Assassin’s Fist and write and direct a very contemporary part of the SF mythos. Featuring old faithful characters and brand new ones. The same level of detail and authenticity has gone into SFR as it has SFAF. I want to also address the subject of STREET FIGHTER: WORLD WARRIOR.

Your passion and demand for seeing the direct narrative follow up to SFAF is understandable and heart warming. I spent most of this year completing detailed story development and structure for World Warrior. To pull together a production of that huge scale takes time. So rest assured SFWW is still coming! and to fill the gap until it is ready, you have SFR to look forward to. Trust me it will Shun Goku Satsu your senses. ~ Joey Ansah

We’ll see in the coming days which other characters from the Street Fighter stable will make an appearance in “Resurrection”, but in serving as a tie-in to Street Fighter V, it looks as though some of the newer characters making their official debut in the newest chapter of the series may show up as well, such as Necalli, Rashid, Laura Matsuda, and the newly announced F.A.N.G.

You can see the newer characters in action alongside such Street Fighter mainstays as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, and M.Bison in the video below, which also gives viewers a glimpse into the new environments and gaming dynamics Street Fighter V will employ.

Street Fighter V is set to be released for PC and PlayStation 4 on February 16th, with “Resurrection” arriving in March. Stay tuned for more info on both as it reels out, and be sure to follow “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” on Facebook and Twitter!
