Scott Adkins joins Doctor Strange!

British action star Scott Adkins is busy as ever  lately. He’s currently in Thailand filming the upcoming “Hard Target 2”, the sequel to Jean-Claude Van Damme’s 1993 hit, and a trailer for “Jarhead 3” dropped out of nowhere just days ago. Additionally, he’ll also be seen next month in the action thriller “Close Range” and will once again assume his iconic role of Yuri Boyka, the Most Complete Fighter in the World, in 2016’s “Boyka: Undisputed IV”, both of which reunite him with acclaimed action filmmaker Isaac Florentine. However, news has what is sure to be some serious speculation fodder – namely, that Scott will step into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and appear in an as yet unspecified role in next year’s “Doctor Strange”!

This isn’t the first time Scott has been attached to a superhero property. He previously served as Ryan Reynolds martial arts double in the role of Weapon XI/Deadpool in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”, and he was also given an audition for the role of Bruce Wayne in the upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, though Ben Affleck would ultimately assume the role.

Scott will join the film alongside “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch, who portrays the titular Sorcerer Supreme, along with Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the role of Baron Mordo. While the character Scott is set to portray remains undisclosed at the moment, there’s already a ton of speculative guessing that Marvel may have finally found its Iron Fist, Marvel Comics’ renown master of martial arts with the power to focus his chi into his fist and make it as strong as iron!

Iron Fist is among the Marvel characters set to make his live-action debut as a Netflix series leading up to The Defenders, a crossover series akin to The Avengers. Marvel had previously tried to get an Iron Fist film going in the early 2000’s, with British wushu wizard Ray Park attached, but it ultimately never got off the ground. There had previously been rumors that Doctor Strange himself would make his MCU debut in the Iron Fist Netflix series, and new rumors are emerging that Marvel intends to retool the Iron Fist series as a Netflix movie to allot more time and money for the project. Could this mean that they’re now doing a switcheroo with their previously rumored plans for Doctor Strange’s first appearance in the MCU and giving it to Iron Fist? We’ll know when we know, but at the very least, we can now say that it’s entirely possible that Scott may end up fighting alongside, or against, this fine gentleman in the near future!

“Doctor Strange” is set to release on November 4th, 2016. Stay tuned for more info on Scott Adkins’ mystery role in the film as it arrives!
