Into the Badlands Season Two trailer lands!

AMC’s post-apocalyptic kung fu hit “Into the Badlands” is set to return for its second season on March 19th, with the added bonus of expanding to ten episodes in comparison to the first season’s six. Fans of the series have eagerly anticipated the show’s continuation following the cliffhanger ending of season one. Fortunately, we can have our first glimpse at the upcoming second season thanks to the newly released trailer which you can see below!

Hong Kong action veteran Daniel Wu returns to the role of the show’s anti-hero Sunny, who must escape captivity following his capture at the end of season one. Wu’s co-stars Emily Beecham and Stephen Lang also return in the roles of the deadly villainess, The Widow, and the wheelchair-bound puppet-master Waldo, along with Aramis Knight as M.K., a teenager who holds a dark, metaphysical power inside of him. British comedian Nick Frost of “Shaun of the Dead” fame also climbs aboard in season two as Bajie, a schemer who becomes Sunny’s ally, while no doubt providing plenty of comic relief along the way.

The series is set in a post-apocalyptic future in which civilization is ruled over by seven warlords known as “The Barons”, who employ fierce masters of combat known as “Clippers” to enforce their rule across their respective territories. Sunny is renown as the most feared of all Clippers and enforces the rule of the mighty Baron Quinn, played by Marton Csokas. However, when he takes on M.K. as a “Colt”, a Clipper in training, Sunny realizes there’s more to his young apprentice than meets the eye and soon finds himself thrust into a war among The Barons for control of the supernatural force within M.K.

The timing of the second season’s debut is guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of martial arts fanatics, as it means they’ll be in for a double dose of kung fu madness on this particular weekend. The upcoming series “Iron Fist”, the fourth in Marvel’s series of Netflix superhero series, is set to to make its grand debut on Netflix on March 17th. The series draws its namesake from the Marvel Comics hero Danny Rand, a kung fu master who wields the mystical power of the “Iron Fist”, allowing him to focus his chi into his fist to make it as strong as iron. Danny will also join his fellow Marvel heroes Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage in the crossover series “The Defenders”, set to arrive on Netflix this summer.

With two action-packed kung-fu driven series debuting within 48 hours of one another, it’s clear that martial arts fans around the world look set to be some of the happiest campers that you’re likely to meet on the weekend of March 17th. Stay tuned for more news on the upcoming second season of “Into the Badlands” as it um…lands!
