FunFriday! Meet Ollie

#FunFriday is all about light, fun and entertaining martial arts from around the world.  Today we’re pleased to introduce a martial arts fan we met at a wing-chun event earlier this year, Ollie Montague.  Thanks for the video Ollie, keep it up!

“I started learning wing chun a year ago with Sifu Greg Holloway in Brixton/Clapham [London]. I had just moved to London and thought I would try something new. I’ve really enjoyed it and wanted to keep up my training whilst travelling for a month around Europe. On my first day (in Karin, Croatia) I tried videoing myself to playback and watch to improve my technique. It struck me that the setting of the video actually made it quite cool despite my dodgy technique – and that spawned the idea to video myself doing Su-Nim-Tao everywhere I went and then edit it together into a video. This video is the first clip in my compilation.

Along the way I attracted a lot of attention, because I would literally put my camera down in tourist areas and start doing Su-Nim-Tao in complete focus. Instead of people just thinking I was weird and moving on, quite a few people wanted to know more about it and when I offered to include them in my video they were surprisingly up for it!”
