Iron Fists sequel on the way!

RZA’s tribute to classic Shaw Brothers kung fu films “The Man with the Iron Fists” did so-so business when it was released in December 2012, and the consensus among fans was something along the lines of “meh”. But the Blacksmith’s story is about to be continued in the next installment of the “Iron Fists” series.

The sequel, titled “The Man with the Iron Fists: Sting of the Scorpion” will see RZA reprise his role as the Blacksmith from the first film, with Dutch filmmaker Roel Reine assuming the role of director. Also returning are Rick Yune as Zen-Yi, Zhu zhu as Chi Chi, and Andrew Lin and Grace Huang as the Gemini Twins.

Joining the cast are Carl Ng and Simon Yin, along with such familiar faces as Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa of the “Mortal Kombat” and “Tekken” films, Dustin Nguyen of “The Rebel” and “Once Upon A Time in Vietnam”, and Ocean Hou, who was seen last fall in Keanu Reeves’ “Man of Tai Chi“. The reception to the first “Iron Fists” was a little on the lukewarm side, and even RZA himself expressed some dissatisfaction with how the film was edited into the version it was released as. Hopefully, “Iron Fists 2” can become the true masterpiece that many fans had hoped the original would be, although Russell Crowe’s Jack Knife, by far the most entertaining character of the first film, will be sorely missed!

“Iron Fists 2” will arrive sometime in late 2014.
