The Martial Arts Kid finds its lead!

If you’ve been monitoring the action on Kickstarter lately, you may have noticed a page for a flick called “The Martial Arts Kid”, which the synopsis describes as “A spectacular coming of age family film that is founded on traditional and mixed martial arts”. That’s all well and good, but add in kickboxing legends Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Bill “Superfoot” Wallace along with the one and only Cynthia Rothrock, and you’ve most definitely got our attention!

Earlier this month, the makers of the film announced that they’d found their titular Martial Arts Kid in the form of Jansen Panettiere, well-known for his appearances in the likes of “Robots”, “The Last Days of Summer”, and “Ice Age: The Meltdown”. Oh, and he’s also a student of Krav Maga! And yes, he’s also the younger brother of that famous cheerleader from Heroes, Hayden Panettiere.

The film currently has $111,435 of the $150,000 being sought on Kickstarter, and seeing such an ensemble of martial arts legends in one film definitely makes it something to push through (made even better by the fact that great James Lew is set to handle the action direction of the film!)

For more information on “The Martial Arts Kid”, be sure to check out the film’s Kickstarter page! And hurry up – the campaign ends on June 4th at 8:59 pm!
