Just a reminder that this weekend will be your last if you want to attend the sixth Terracotta Far East Film Festival where “This years special ‘SPOTLIGHT ON: …’ will focus on the Philippines, an area set to be ‘the next big thing’.”
The annual film festival began here in London on May 23rd, finishes June 1st and is the largest of its kind in the U.K.. It’s backed and operated by the Terracotta Distribution group which is responsible for importing a wide variety of Asian horror, sci-fi, and of course, martial arts films to the U.K.
The festival is also renowned for featuring appearances by Asian actors and makers of showcased films, with past guests including Clement Cheng, Gilette Leung, and Rina Takeda.
Among the notable films featured at the festival this year are the acclaimed MMA-drama “Unbeatable”, Tony Jaa’s return to Muay Thai madness “Tom Yum Goong 2” (under the title of “Warrior King 2), Jackie Chan’s Asian Hawk-inspired adventure film “Chinese Zodiac“, and Donnie Yen’s martial arts cop thriller “Special ID”. The festival notably marks the official U.K. premiere, in the case of each one!
Tickets for the festival can be purchased via the official Terracotta Far East Film Festival website. However, don’t fret if you can’t make it this year – the Terracotta Film Club also showcases the best Asian filmmakers have to offer each month at the Prince Charles Cinema in London, with “Chocolate“, “Lady Snowblood”, and Jackie Chan’s “Police Story” among the notable martial arts films that have been showcased.
