For most of 2016, news has been a tad scarce on the upcoming “Lady Bloodfight”, the highly anticipated female-centric reboot of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s cult classic “Bloodsport“. Fortunately, that dry spell has come to an end with the release of the official trailer, which you can see below!
Directed by “Kiss of the Dragon” auteur Chris Nahon from a screenplay by Bey Logan, the film sees stuntwoman Amy Johnston portray our heroine, Jane, who travels to Hong Kong to compete in the legendary underground martial arts tournament known as “The Kumite”. She’ll need all the training she can get for her upcoming fight, as she’ll be opposed by a collection of formidable opponents from around the globe, including the ‘Chong Li’ of the new Kumite, the nefarious Ling, played by Jenny Wu.
The trailer isn’t the only goodie the makers of “Lady Bloodfight” have dropped ahead of the film’s release. The film’s official soundtrack was also released on September 30th and while that unforgettable classic “Fight to Survive” is nowhere to be found, this OST certainly gets the heart racing with style. Give it a quick listen via Amazon.com and feel it for yourself!
“Lady Bloodfight” currently releasing in several Asian territories, including Cambodia and Vietnam. Stay tuned for more info on the film’s release in the English-speaking world. In the meantime, be sure to check out our official interviews with the film’s stars, Amy Johnston and Jenny Wu!
