Kings of Kung Fu game launches Kickstarter!

Have you ever found yourself pondering how cool it would be to see Bruce Lee take on his own teacher Ip Man? Or if Gordon Liu could have a sparring match with Tony Jaa? How about if the late Karate master Jim Kelly could challenge Jet Li’s Tai Chi skills? Or if the queen of 70’s fighting females Angela Mao could pit her Hapkido skills against the might of Jackie Chan’s abilities with Drunken Fist?

Let the pondering come to an end! All of those scenarios and more will now become possible in the video game “Kings of Kung Fu”. Created by indie game-developer and martial arts movie lover Jae Lee, the concept of the game is a dream come true for all martial arts lovers – an old school style fighting game pitting some of the most beloved and respected names in martial arts films, each assuming the role of their most iconic film character, against one another!

Lee is currently holding a Kickstarter campaign to solicit $5,000 for the development of his game, and anyone who chips in will receive the usual perks and rewards that come with every Kickstarter depending on the amount donated. Lee is currently targeting PC’s as his platform of choice for the game, but should he manage to exceed the target goal and hit $150,000, the game could hit home consoles such the Xbox One and Playstation 4, as well!

Lee has a serious eye for both fighting games and martial arts films. The character roster seen in the trailer includes such legends as Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan, Angela Mao, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tony Jaa, Gordon Liu, Jet Li, and Jim Kelly, among others, each assuming some of their most iconic and popular movie roles! The stages are also heavily patterned after the visual design of classic 70’s and 80’s kung fu flicks, and for a game from an indie developer, the graphics are exceptionally impressive, akin to the early installments of “Mortal Kombat” or “Tekken”! With a project release date during the second quarter of 2015, “Kings of Kung Fu” is definitely a game to watch out for!
