Jeeja Yanin and Celina Jade join Triple Threat!

When “Triple Threat” was first announced in 2016, the ensemble martial arts action thriller was already guaranteed to have fervent anticipation built in – true to its title, the film unites action stars Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, and Tiger Chen. The hype for the film would only double with the recent addition of Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, and UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping to the cast. Now, while the original title remains in place, the project has gone from a triple to sextuple and finally an octuple threat, with “Chocolate” star Jeeja Yanin and Celina Jade of “Arrow” fame officially coming aboard!

A synopsis released by The Hollywood Reporter reveals what audiences can expect from the film:

“The action kicks off after a billionaire’s daughter becomes the target of a mercenary cartel. Her only protection are two down-on-their-luck fighters and a third who has vowed revenge against the others.”

Martial arts fans and action junkies will already be intimately familiar with the film’s stellar, “Expendables”-esque ensemble, but the talent behind the camera is just as impressive. Tim Man of “Ninja II: Shadow of a Tear” and the upcoming “Boyka: Undisputed” will serve as action director, while veteran stunt man and rising action filmmaker Jesse V. Johnson will helm the film.

As it is, “Triple Threat” would seem an apt title for Johnson himself, as well, given that this is the third major upcoming martial arts ensemble film he’s ready to unleash upon the world. First up is “Savage Dog“, which brings together Scott Adkins with MMA legend Cung Le, rising star Juju Chan, and his “Undisputed 3“co-star Marko Zaror. Following that, Johnson will next release “Accident Man”, which is set to bring together Scott (who also produced) with Michael Jai White, Ray Park, Tim Man, and Amy Johnston of the upcoming “Lady Bloodfight“. With a motley crew like this behind all three projects, you can rest assured a hurricane of action dynamite and smorgasbord of fu is brewing!

“Triple Threat” is set to get rolling in Thailand next month. Stay tuned for more info on the film as it storms through!
