We’re just a month into the new year and it’s already clear that 2017 is going to be giving an almost ridiculous amount of love to fans of action and adventure. To verify that, you need look no further than the new trailer for director Jesse Johnson’s upcoming period martial arts war film “Savage Dog”, which brings together action stars Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror with MMA legend Cung Le and rising star Juju Chan!
Along with the newly released trailer, the film’s official synopsis gives audiences a glimpse a what the film has in store for them:
Indochina – 1959. A lawless land controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war-criminals. Den-Dhin-Chan Labor Camp is run by four such dangerous men. The worst prison in the land, it is here that an Irish, former-champion boxer Martin Tilman (Adkins) has made a name for himself fighting tournaments, on which wealthy criminals gamble in high stakes events. When Tilman is due for release, he just wants to return home, but the corrupt forces running the jail will do everything in their power to keep him locked down. When all that Tilman holds dear is taken away in a vicious act of violence, he is forced to confront the men responsible and take his revenge.
One of the film’s primary draws is obviously the rematch between Scott and Marko, after their doozy of a smackdown in 2010’s “Undisputed 3: Redemption“, and MMA fans will no doubt be ecstatic for Scott to join the ranks of Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Daniel Wu and Donnie Yen in the pantheon of Cung Le’s celluloid battles.
“Savage Dog” isn’t the only martial arts ensemble Scott will grace with his presence this year, either. His upcoming passion project “Accident Man”, based upon the cult British comic strip of the same name, will see him joined by his “Undisputed 2” co-star Michael Jai White, along with Ray Park, Amy Johnston and Tim Man, who also serves as action director. In the case of both, there’s no reason to enter either with even an iota of consternation – as with action talent of this calibre, you’re pretty much guaranteed to see some cool stuff result!
“Savage Dog” is set to release later this year. Stay tuned for more info as it growls, barks and assuredly bites its way through!
