Last fall, Tiger Chen thrilled audiences around the world with his leading man debut in Keanu Reeves’ “Man of Tai Chi”, with fans being even more enthralled by the knowledge that he had been the man to turn Keanu Reeves into the kung fu fighting machine Neo in “The Matrix”. And like his eponymous character “Man of Tai Chi”, Tiger is ready to dive headlong into another adventure! Specifically, in the upcoming martial arts film “Impulse”, which will begin filming in Vancouver later this year.
Jonathan Lim of the film’s distributor Crimson Forest Entertainment released the following statement regarding Chen’s involvement with the film:
“Tiger is an amazingly talented Martial Arts star, and we are excited to cast him in our film. We are confident that the film will have a stellar cast to complement an action-packed plot line that will resonate with audiences on a global scale.”
At present, little solid information is available about the project apart from Chen’s involvement, but what’s particularly curious is how it’s being pitched as a “follow-up” to “Man of Tai Chi”. Will Tiger Chen go the route of Jackie Chan and adopt his real name for his on-screen persona half the time? Perhaps, but if it “Impulse” is indeed a continuation of Tiger’s story in “Man of Tai Chi”, the only logical conclusion we can reach is that he is the latest incarnation of the Avatar, since his character in Keanu Reeves’ directorial debut is clearly an Airbender!
Keep your eyes and ears open for more new on “Impulse”! We’ll report on it as more information arrives!
