“Twilight of the Warriors: Walled in” — Coming in 2023 via Well Go USA!

Development hell has slowed down the advance of too many movies and TV shows, and “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” can truly call itself a survivor of those rigors.

Entering development as far back as the early 2000’s and with a who’s who of stars coming and going throughout its early stages, the adaptation of the manhua comic “City of Darkness” finally entered production last fall.

Now, ICYMI, Eastern and Western audiences alike have some intel on when they’ll be seeing it, with Media Asia and Well Go USA respectively handling its Asian and American territorial releases in 2023!

As reported in Screen Daily and Film Combat Syndicate, “Twilight of the Warriors” landed its distribution deal at the 2022 Cannes Film Market, a return to such in-person distribution sales after the two years of misery wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally bearing the title of “Kowloon Walled City”, “Twilight of the Warriors” will be set in Hong Kong’s famed, rough, and virtually lawless neighborhood during 1980’s British rule.

As described by Screen Daily:

“It follows a troubled youth as he accidentally enters the Walled City, discovers order amidst the chaos, and gains life lessons as he gets closer to the denizens as they resist a villainous invasion.”

The talent in front of, and behind the camera definitely rounds up many names Hong Kong action fans know well. The “Twilight of the Warriors” large ensemble cast includes Louis Koo, Sammo Hung, Richie Jen, and Philip Ng. Additionally, Cheang Pou-soi, director of the Tony Jaa-Wu Jing double-header “SPL II: A Time for Consequences” also directs.

The premise, setting, title, and released image above all tease “Twilight of the Warriors” as a rough and gritty urban kung fu war.

The early distribution lock with Well Go USA will also surely come as welcome news to American viewers, suggesting an approximately timed stateside release with the martial arts film’s debut in China and Hong Kong.

Hopefully, with further territories reportedly being presently shopped around, U.K. and other Western-based viewers won’t have to wait too much longer either!

Stay tuned for more info on “Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In” as it tumbles through!
