Mark Dacascos and JuJu Chan board “Wu Assassins”!

Netflix’s supernatural martial arts series, “Wu Assassins”, which headed into production earlier this month, is sure to be the streaming giant’s most hotly anticipated series for action lovers, with “The Raid” star Iko Uwais set to headline the series. However, the company he’ll have on the show is sure to bring a smile to many fans’ faces, with the news of Mark Dacascos and JuJu Chan joining the series!

The 10-episode series will see Iko in the role of Kai Jin, who is tasked with cleaning up the Triad-ruled streets of San Francisco’s Chinatown, after being bestowed with the otherworldly power of the “Wu Assassin”. Mark Dacascos will reportedly portray a mysterious monk determined to put a stop to the forces of evil, while JuJu Chan is set to appear in the role of Zan, a highly-skilled Triad assassin and right-hand woman of the nefarious Uncle Six, played by Byron Mann. Also set to appear on the show are Tzi Ma in the role of Chinatown grocer and mentor to Kai, Mr. Young, and Lewis Tan, who recently broke out on the third season of AMC’s “Into the Badlands“, as Lu Xin Lee, leader of a Triad car theft ring.

Iko will also serve as the series’ fight coordinator, while the first two episodes of the series are set to be directed by Stephen Fung, well-known to martial arts aficionados as the director of 2005’s “House of Fury”, “Tai Chi Zero” and its sequel, “Tai Chi Hero”, along with serving as action director on “Into the Badlands”.

While the prospect of Iko Uwais and Mark Dacascos side-by-side, and possibly facing off, will doubtlessly draw countless action fans to the series, both also have major projects set to drop prior to the release of “Wu Assassins”. Iko will be seen as one-third of the titular motley crew in the highly anticipated martial arts ensemble “Triple Threat”, set to be released in late 2018. Meanwhile, Mark recently wrapped up on next year’s “John Wick 3: Parabellum“, in the role of the title character’s fellow assassin, Zero – with the film set to be something of an ensemble in its own right, with Tiger Chen, Yayan RuhianCecep Arif Rahman, and Hiroyuki Sanada also set to appear!

“Wu Assassins” is set to release in 2019 on Netflix. Stay tuned for more info on the series as it drops!
