Zambo Dende Trailer Arrives!

2016 will see a slew of comic book characters make the leap to live-action for the first time, from Wonder Woman to Doctor Strange to Luke Cage to Black Panther, but one of them will be coming (to play off of a recent internet meme) Straight Outta Colombia – specifically, 16th Century warrior Zambo Dende, and after months’ of anticipation, the first trailer for our hero’s grand debut has arrived!

Under the direction of Riccardo Gabrielli R., Chilean martial artist Marko Zaror of “Undisputed 3” and “Redeemer” fame steps into the title role of Zambo Dende, a crusader fighting for the freedom of oppressed slaves in 16th century Colombia. He’s also joined by several names that will be instantly familiar to martial arts fans, including acclaimed fight choreographer Larnell Stovall, Michelle Lee of “Mortal Kombat: Legacy“, and the late Darren Shahlavi (RIP) in one of his final roles before his untimely death last January.

Produced in conjunction with Zambo Dende creator Nicholas Rodriguez and 7Glab Entertainment, producer of the eponymous comic book series, the upcoming short film is set to serve as the basis for a series, and judging by the trailer the makers have gone to extraordinary, Zack Snyder-esque lengths to bring the colorful visual style of a comic book world vividly to life. With so many superhero flicks set to make landfall this year, “Zambo Dende” is seriously one you don’t want to miss!

Stay tuned for more info on the release of “Zambo Dende” as it drops. In the meantime, be sure to also check out the pre-viz footage below for, in the words of Shang Tsung, a taste of things to come!
