The Shanghai 13!

The Shanghai 13 is an all-star Hong Kong extravaganza about patriots vs. traitors in 1930s Shanghai featuring Shaw Brothers veterans David Chiang and Ti Lung, and superstar Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs); from the director of Five Deadly Venoms and One Armed Swordsman.

During the Sino-Japanese war, a Chinese patriot steals damning evidence that exposes traitorous intentions within the government. Planning to take the evidence from Shanghai to Hong Kong and make it public, he becomes an assassination target. In order to ensure safe passage, he employs an elite ensemble of fighters, The Shanghai Thirteen, to protect him on his treacherous mission. With formidable obstacles ahead and relentless pursuers behind, their only chance is to stand and fight!

  • Shanghai 13 is best in its original Cantonese. It is a Who's Who of SB and other studios' legends. The only one who doesn't get a fight scene is poor Danny Lee (he shoots the wrong person). Legend, Chen Kuan Tai has a "sparring" moment. Getting Mr. Gao to the port to get him out of China isn't an easy task. I've watched this 4 times and still love it, I notice something new each time. The cast is phenomenal. Anyone who loves a good fight scene (Da Wei and CKC at the casino) or one that leaves you scratching your head (Ricky and Ti at the docks), this movie is a must watch.
