Jackie Chan’s Dragon Blade begins!

Having just recently celebrated his 60th Birthday (an event that Mr. Glen Stanway was privileged to attend!) Jackie Chan has not slowed down in the slightest, hard at work on his latest martial arts action adventure film, “Dragon Blade”, which will see a team up of sorts between Roman and Chinese soldiers. Joining Chan in the film are Hollywood stars Adrien Brody portraying the villainous Tiberius, along with John Cusack in the role of Jackie’s Roman ally Lucius. Brody has shown himself capable handling an action-heavy role in 2010’s “Predators”.

Cusack’s involvement in the film is even more curious, given his and Jackie’s mutual friendship with the legendary Benny “The Jet” Urquidez. Jackie has famously fought against Urquidez on-screen not once but twice – specifically in “Dragons Forever” and “Wheels on Meals”. Cusack, meanwhile, holds a 7th degree Ukidokan black belt under Urquidez, and has himself faced off against his own teacher in “Grosse Point Blanke”, as well as Don “The Dragon” Wilson in “Say Anything”. Moreover, rumors abound that Urquidez himself had allegedly been spotted around the set of the film. And Sensei Benny basically confirmed as much last night via his Facebook page with the following photo and message:

“Reunion of the Best…” Sensei Benny is involved in the China’s latest historical action epic “Dragon Blade” which is already halfway into production, and is directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Daniel Lee. This film has snagged the title of being one of the most most expensive Chinese-language films to ever go into production, with a starting budget of $65 million USD.” Get those fingers crossed for Benny “The Jet” to have a rematch with Jackie Chan, his most famous Ukidokan student, or both!

But that’s not all Jackie has up his sleeve. Following “Dragon Blade”, he will join Sean William Scott, Fan Bingbing, and director Renny Harlin for the film “Skip Trace”, to be followed by “Chinese Zodiac 2”. Stay Tuned for more news on each as it arrives!
