Dragon Blade trailer arrives!

When many people are seeing retirement on the horizon when they hit 60, Jackie Chan just sees his next adventure, in this case titled “Dragon Blade”.  Joined by John Cusack and Adrien Brody, it’s a clash of East meets West when the forces of the Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire meet on China’s Silk Road, as you can see in the newly released trailer below.

The official synopsis reveals what fans can expect from the film:

In 48BC, during the Han Dynasty, Roman general Lucius (John Cusack) crosses into China after being accused of treason.  In the Gobi Desert, he fights and then befriends Huo An (Jackie Chan), a once high-ranking commander, who has been framed by corrupt court officials and forced into slavery.  The encounter ignites a thrilling piece of history that has never before been told.

With a reported budget of U.S. $65 million, “Dragon Blade” is the most expensive Chinese movie to date, and it most certainly looks like it was money well spent, as we can see in the trailer.  As seen in “Armour of God II: Operation Condor”, big scale action films in the desert are no problem for Jackie, and his two co-stars are certainly game.

Brody, who portrays the Roman Emperor Tiberius, took on the invisible, dreadlocked hunters on their home turf in 2010’s “Predators”, while Cusack is a twenty-year student of the martial art, Ukidokan, under the art’s founder, and Jackie’s powerful adversary in “Wheels on Meals“, the legendary Sensei Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez.  It should also be noted that, although Sensei Benny is not seen in the trailer, he more or less confirmed his own involvement via Facebook this past summer.

“Dragon Blade” is set to debut in China on February 19th.  Stay tuned for more info on the film as it nears release!
