Daredevil Season Two trailers arrive!

2016 seems to be shaping up as the year of superhero conflict. Batman and Superman will cross paths, initially as adversaries for the very first time on the big screen in next month’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, while the internal bond of The Avengers will be put to the test in May’s “Captain America: Civil War”. On top of that, The Man Without Fear will find himself at odds with both a murderous vigilante and an old flame of his in the second season of Netflix’s hit series, “Daredevil”.  Two newly released trailers give a glimpse of what our hero will find himself up against!

Season two marks the third chapter in Marvel’s ever-growing Netflix empire, following season one and the recent “Jessica Jones”. Following the upcoming “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” shows, all four more series are set to crossover in the Avengers-style team-up show, “The Defenders”. With each series taking place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we may well see these characters cross paths with their counterparts on the big screen!

The upcoming second chapter in Daredevil’s Netflix saga sees Charlie Cox return to the role of the title character, and will mark the series’ debut of Elektra Natchios, Matt’s love interest and equally skilled Ninjutsu master. Elektra was previously portrayed by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 “Daredevil” opposite the future Batman, Ben Affleck, and  was subsequently seen in the 2005 spin-off, “Elektra”. For the Netflix series, the character is set to be portrayed by Elodie Yung, who can also be seen showcasing her martial arts skills in “District B13: Ultimatum” and G.I. Joe: Retaliation”.

Daredevil and Elektra will also be joined in season two by one of Marvel’s more morally grey characters, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, whose methods and willingness to kill put him at odds with The Man Without Fear. Over the years, The Punisher has proven to be one of the toughest nuts for Marvel to crack. His first cinematic appearance was in 1989 with Dolph Lundgren in the role, while Thomas Jane assumed the role in 2004. The character was rebooted once again in 2008’s “Punisher: War Zone” under the direction of stunt woman and world karate champion Lexi Alexander with Ray Stevenson in the role. Jon Bernthal of “The Walking Dead” steps into the part  in the second season of “Daredevil”, which will mark the MCU debut of the character (unless you count the car chase sequence in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”), and it’s clear that his antagonistic relationship with Daredevil will set the tone for the season!

“Daredevil” season two is set to arrive on Netflix on March 18th. Stay tuned for more info as it arrives!
