“Creed II” Featurette video!

We’re just a few weeks away from the hotly-anticipated release of “Creed II”, the latest chapter in the “Rocky” (see our Top 10 Rocky Fight Scenes) franchise that promises to be one for the ages. Really, how could it not be, with not only the return of the vicious Ivan Drago, but the debut of his equally cold-blooded son, Viktor? With the film set to hit theaters in a couple of weeks (just in time for Thanksgiving), here below is a recently released featurette, (ICYMI) which should help feed the excitement of “Rocky” fans and give a glimpse of what the film has in store!

Ivan Drago first debuted in the “Rocky” franchise with 1985’s “Rocky IV”, with Dolph Lundgren in the role that proved to be his big break. The film would see Rocky’s former rival turned best friend, Apollo Creed, killed in the ring at Drago’s hands, with Drago’s lack of remorse for Apollo’s death summed up in his immortal quote, “If he dies, he dies.” Rocky would ultimately step into the ring himself to face Drago, avenge his friend, and in the process, create perhaps popular culture’s definitive turning point in the Cold War.

The seeds laid by “Rocky IV” would return with 2015’s “Creed”, helmed by “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler. The film would shift its focus to Apollo’s illegitimate son, Adonis, and his quest to become a professional boxer with Rocky stepping into a mentoring role, while confronting his own lingering inner demons.

For “Creed II”, the first film’s blend of new blood and heart-warming nostalgia is set to dial up to eleven with not only the return of Ivan Drago, but the arrival of his own son, Viktor. “Creed II” is poised to bring “Rocky IV” full circle, with the vengeance-minded Adonis facing Viktor in the ring while The Italian Stallion tries to talk him out of it. For fans of big screen combat, it’s a safe bet that “Creed II” will deliver the goods on the boxing front.
