Black Salt trailer released!

Comic book movies are just getting bigger and better these days, and anyone who doubts it need only look up the recent news of Iron Man’s appearance in what is rumored to be a “Civil War”-inspired “Captain America 3”, or the sheer volume of films coming from the DC stable in the next few years. However,  there is one other crime fighter who will soon make the leap from the pages of comic books to the silver screen – the one and only Black Salt, and as you can tell from the recently released trailer below, it’s a superhero adventure tailor-made for martial arts fans!

Adapted from the popular comic book of the same name, “Black Salt” is a short film helmed by “Blood and Bone” director Ben Ramsey, with Ron Yuan serving as action director, and is the basis for a feature film adaptation. The official synopsis below outlines what fans can expect from the short film:

“Black Salt is a live-action short film project. With only four days left the clock ticks down towards a new world holocaust. The only thing standing in its path is Interpol’s deadliest black-ops agent, Samuel Tharpe. Sam hunts down the path of a game-changing weapon of mass destruction called the Exterminatus. He follows hot on its trail deep into the ancient land of China where he must seek aid from the Abbot at the Shaolin Temple. An evil Yakuza master stole the Exterminatus and seeks to use it in the East. Sam must prove his worthiness by fighting one of the Temple’s most skilled monks. Prepared to lay down his own life in exchange for the lives of his family and the world, Sam steps forward and engages in combat. Only his long-past training by the Shaolin master, Yu Bai Shek will make him a worthy hero.”

Kinyumba Mutakabbir leads the film as the title character, aided in his efforts by action movie legend James Lew, accomplished stunt performers Arnold Chon and Michelle Lee, and even real-life Shaolin disciple Xiaojun Wang!
