Bey Logan in Donnie Yen’s Kung Fu Jungle!

Fans of martial arts films, especially ones from Hong Kong, have no doubt heard at least one Bey Logan commentary in their lives. As one of the most well-known and respected experts on Asian cinema in the English-speaking world, Logan voice is a staple of DVD commentaries of martial arts films, a factor that makes the English-language release of films like “Flash Point“, “Sha Po Lang”, “Fist of Legend“, “The Rebel”, and “Tom Yum Goong” (to name but a VERY few) must-haves for martial arts fans all on its own!

Logan is also well-known as a writer and producer of martial arts films, lending producing duties to the upcoming “Crouching Tiger Hidden Tiger II: The Green Destiny”, and his production company B&E Entertainment producing the film Lady Bloodfight, a modern ode to Jean-Claude Van Damme’s “Bloodsport”, later this year. But his latest outing falls squarely into the “tell me more” category, given that he will appear in, and apparently fight against, Hong Kong’s reigning action king Donnie Yen in the upcoming “Kung Fu Jungle”. Logan recently provided fans with a glimpse of what his role will entail with some pictures on his Facebook page.

Along with the following message:

“Getting my (fake!) tattoos put on for my fight with Donnie Yen for Teddy Chen’s ‘Kung Fu Jungle’. You think the demon head is big enough? (I vetoed the little bats!) The calligraphy says ‘Sing Cheh Wai Wong’, part of a phrase meaning that, to become king, you have to defeat everyone!”

This isn’t Logan’s first appearance onscreen, but dueling against Donnie Yen is sure to be a dream come true for fans of both men. And given that Logan is an accomplished student of Tai Chi and Hung Gar, Donnie had better be prepared to bring the thunder!

For more information about his appearance in “Kung Fu Jungle”, be sure to follow Bey Logan on Facebook! And be sure to check out Raj’s three-part interview with Logan, which can be read here.
