Unity International Games 2015!

The 3rd annual Unity International Games will be held at the Newark Showground Exhibition Hall in Nottinghamshire, UK, on the 13th of September 2015.

Wondering what Unity is all about?

As usual, there are divisions for traditional styles, creative and musical forms, as well as fighting divisions and, new for this year; team and tag team fights for adult competitors.

Throughout the day, alongside the competition, training seminars will be held allowing you to learn how to handle a number of weapons (including Bo, Kamas, Katana and Chux (Nunchucks) as well as some forms, flips and tricks on the air track. You can dip in and out of the seminars as you wish which will be taught by Luke Scott, Zara Phythian and Trey Drysdale.

Competitors from a number of countries have already registered, with teams from Italy, France, Ireland and Switzerland travelling in as well as many competitors from the home counties of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

High Kicking Zara Phythian

Once again, the spectacular Night Show is jam packed with talent on a raised stage, with professional lighting and sound. This year the Night Show is being filmed and will include the battle to win the Grand Championships with displays from a number of special guests.

The Night Show will be judged by the British Lady Dragon herself Zara Phythian and will include displays from Kung Fu Kingdom favourite and Britain’s Got Talent 2015 finalist Jesse Jane McParland. Other performances on the night show will include:

  • Professional stuntman and UK Hyper Athlete Luke Scott
  • Swiss tricking group – Team STAMA
  • French Martial Arts Team – TDO Crew
  • UK Athlete Trey Drysdale

It’s all shaping up to be a really exciting show and a brilliant way to end the day; both inspiring and entertaining the competitors and spectators alike and finishes at 8pm.

Stuart Grimes is a fan of all martial arts. He has studied Shotokan Karate for a few years as a teenager and also taken classes in Judo, boxing and Kickboxing. His children have inherited his love of martial arts and currently train over 12 hours a week, incorporating Chin Woo Kung Fu, Gymnastics and Sport Karate. His eldest two children compete regularly and either hold or have held English, British or European titles in the WTKA, WKU, ISKA, WKKC, WMO, WMKF and WKC, as well as a Unity International Games title.
