UFC Fight Night Edmonton: Top 3 Finishes

Returning with another thrilling UFC Fight Night event, the Octagon took center stage in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Albazi.

The event brought fans intense action with headlining flyweight clashes between former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and rising flyweight contender Amir Albazi.

Also, rising women’s contender Erin Blanchfield took on former 2-time strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, and here, even the undercard delivered memorable finishes. So, without further ado, here’s a look at UFC Fight Night Edmonton’s Top 3 Fights!

3. Charles Jourdain defeats Victor Henry by Guillotine Choke Submission

In the bantamweight division, the exciting and unpredictable Charles Jourdain squared off against Victor Henry.

Making his bantamweight debut, Jourdain entered the cage looking to add to his 15-8-1 record with another impressive finish.

Henry, meanwhile, with a 24-6 record, hoped to display his well-rounded skill set and secure a solid win over a dangerous opponent.

Round 1 saw both fighters testing their range, with Jourdain finding success early with his striking.

Jourdain controlled the pace, landing clean punches that kept Henry cautious. Despite some back-and-forth exchanges, Jourdain’s accuracy appeared to be the difference-maker, as he mixed up body and head shots effectively, keeping Henry on the defensive.

In round 2, the action picked up as Henry became more aggressive, attempting to close the distance. However, Jourdain’s defense and striking continued giving him the edge.

At 3:35, Henry took Jourdain down, but Jourdain saw an opportunity and quickly locked in a guillotine choke.

Sinking it deep, he forced Henry to tap at 3:43, securing the submission victory. This earned Jourdain one of the event’s four Performance of the Night bonuses!

2. Youssef Zalal defeats Jack Shore by Arm-Triangle Choke Submission

Next, we have Youssef Zalal facing off against Jack Shore in a featherweight clash.

Both fighters entered with impressive records 15-5-1 and 17-2 respectively, setting the stage for an intriguing matchup.

In round 1, Zalal looked sharp, using his movement to avoid Shore’s strikes and finding openings for counters.

Shore attempted to press forward and establish control, but Zalal defended well, demonstrating his own striking skills by countering Shore’s clinch attempts and keeping the fight competitive on the feet.

As round 2 opened, Zalal wasted no time taking the action to the ground. At 0:28, Zalal countered Shore’s takedown attempt with a head knee that sent the Welsh fighter straight to the canvas.

The Moroccan proceeded with ground-and-pound and an arm-triangle choke to submit Shore at just 0:59.

This quick finish highlighted Zalal’s technical prowess and adaptability on the mat, earning him the event’s first Performance of the Night bonus.

1. DustinStoltzfus defeats Marc-Andre Barriault by KO (Punches)

Finally, in one of the night’s most electrifying finishes, middleweight Dustin Stoltzfus took on Marc-Andre Barriault.

Known for his power and resilience, the 16-8 Barriault came in as a tough challenge, while the 15-6 Stoltzfus sought to make a statement with his striking.

Round 1 kicked off with Stoltzfus sweeping Barriault at 0:17 and dominating the Canadian on the ground, having stayed in top position for almost 4 minutes.

By 4:15, Barriault got back up, and both fighters exchanged heavy punches.

Despite Barriault thriving in stand-and-bang-type situations, Stoltzfus showcased his durability, absorbing his strikes and responding with his own powerful counters.

Stoltzfus knocked Barriault out cold at 4:26 and followed with two more big punches before the referee stepped in at 4:28.

This emphatic finish put an exclamation mark on the night’s action and earned Stoltzfus a Performance of the Night bonus too!
