The Guvnor Kung Fu Kingdom 770x472
Having been recently screened to great acclaim at the East End Film Festival, this fascinating and revealing documentary about the life of notorious British hardman, Lenny McLean is coming to selected cinemas followed by its release on DVD, Blu-ray & Digital Download!
The life of famed East End luminary Lenny McLean gets a touching, personal treatment in “The Guv’nor”. Lenny made his name as a bare-knuckle boxer, bouncer, enforcer, and doorman, who became an unlicensed boxing champion, and eventually a celebrity, best-selling author and movie star in “Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels”. Director Paul Van Carter follows Lenny’s son Jamie as he explores his father’s story from his troubled upbringing, including the physical abuse he suffered via his stepfather, to his local fame and later stardom. On the way we meet a variety of characters from East London legends through to Hollywood figures such as director Guy Ritchie and actors Jason Flemyng and Vas Blackwood. What emerges is a picture of a complex, violent, driven, but principled family man.
Featuring rare film and photos of Lenny throughout his life, including some incredible footage of his training and his most notorious fights, this is an eye-opening insight into how McLean became Britain’s Hardest Man!
