The Gate Arrives on YouTube!

The summer movie season is upon us, but a theatre near you isn’t the only place where you can have your socks knocked off by an insane action flick. You can also just pull up YouTube, type in “The Gate”, and feast your eyes on what the end result of a crowdfunding campaign can accomplish. You can see the film below, and after it’s over, mentally give it a place of honour on the piece we just put out on the impact of “The Raid”!

The short, which dropped on YouTube earlier this month, stars Amy Johnston of the upcoming “Lady Bloodfight” and Cecep Arif Rahman of “The Raid 2” fame, along with Xin Wuku and Malay Kim of the EMC Monkeys and is intended to serve as the basis for a series. If you’re one of the people who chipped into the film’s Indiegogo campaign, you most definitely have gotten your money’s worth, but you can also take a peek behind the scenes of “The Gate” by checking out our interviews with Amy Johnston and director Kellie Madison.

For martial arts fans, Amy and Cecep, of course, need no introduction. Amy previously served as one of Scarlett Johansson’s stunt doubles in 2014’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, and also recently appeared in “Street Fighter: Resurrection”, the follow-up to the acclaimed web-series, “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist”. She’s also set to step into center stage later this year in the upcoming “Lady Bloodfight”, helmed by “Kiss of the Dragon” auteur Chris Nahon.

Cecep, of course, slashed his way to stardom in 2014’s “The Raid 2” and appeared along with his co-stars from the film (Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian) in last year’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. Londoners will have an opportunity to see his Silat skills performed upfront and in person this weekend at the 2016 Indonesian Weekend in Potters Fields Park, so if you’re in town don’t miss it!
