Support The Martial Arts Kid 2 on Indiegogo!

The Martial Arts Kid” (2015) brought together the talents of martial arts legends like Don “The Dragon” Wilson and Cynthia Rothrock for a modern coming of age story about a teenage martial arts prodigy overcoming the issue of bullying. Now, the team that brought you the first film are at it again with the upcoming sequel “Payback” which is currently raising funds for the film. Now you too can help support The Martial Arts Kid 2 on Indiegogo!

The first film was conceived by Don’s brother, James Wilson, as a modern update of “The Karate Kid“, and specifically sought to bring a greater degree of realism to its young hero’s advancement as a martial artist, and of his relationship with his mentor. As with the 1984 classic, the film also delved into the importance of positive role models within a young martial arts student’s rise through the ranks. T.J. Storm portrayed the role of Coach Laurent Kaine. His overly aggressive teaching style contrasted against the more positive reinforcement given the film’s young hero Robbie, played by Jansen Panettiere, under the tutelage of his Uncle Glen and Aunt Cindy, played respectively by Don and Cynthia.

For “The Martial Arts Kid 2”, both Don and Cynthia are set to reprise their roles, alongside fellow returning cast members T.J. Storm, Matthew Ziff, Brandon Tyler Russell, and Chuck Zito. The sequel will also add Sasha Mitchell, well known for his role as David Sloan in the “Kickboxer” sequels,  and per the film’s Indiegogo page, will focus on “showing how martial arts can be applied to real-world situations that are more serious and adult while keeping our wholesome level of family entertainment.”
