If you haven’t noticed yet, we’ve been monitoring the release of the upcoming web-series “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” pretty closely. The consensus among fans is that the treatment Street Fighter has received in live-action has been, shall we say, lacking.
Two live-action movies, Street Fighter and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, failed to get the most essential elements of Street Fighter right. This led to fans convinced that the series just couldn’t be done in a live-action incarnation. Then Joey Ansah and Christian Howard came along to put those doubts to rest with the fan film Street Fighter: Legacy back in May 2010.
Street Fighter: Legacy
Both fans and the creators themselves hoped that the extremely well-received short film would serve as the launching pad for a Street Fighter resurrection. Four years, tons of blood, sweat, and tears later, that hope is finally ready to be unleashed in the form of “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist”, which debuts on Machinima’s YouTube channel on May 23rd!
As the release date nears we’ll be taking a look back on the history of Street Fighter with a retrospective on the history of one of the most iconic videogames of all time. We’ll look back at the previous two live-action films and publish our interviews with the cast of the upcoming reboot!
So be sure to keep your Satsui No Hado from taking over; you most definitely do not want to miss our lead-in to Street Fighter Assassin’s Fist!
