ONE 169: Top 3 Finishes KUNG FU KINGDOM
In a high-stakes heavyweight matchup, multiple-time BJJ world champion Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida put his 4-1 MMA record on the line against the 14-3 Amir Aliakbari, showcasing his elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills in a dominant performance.
Round 1 started with a feeling out process on the feet, but Buchecha established control over Aliakbari with a calculated takedown at 1:21. Aliakbari struggled to defend against the grappling pressure as Buchecha transitioned seamlessly through positions.
At 3:15, Buchecha secured Aliakbari’s back and locked in a rear naked choke, forcing him to tap. The swift submission displayed Buchecha’s world-class grappling and earned him a Performance of the Night bonus.
The 13-5 judo black belt Ayaka Miura showcased her grappling finesse in a women’s MMA matchup against fellow judo black belt and Argentina’s own Macarena Aragon, who came in with a perfect 3-0 record.
Round 1 started with Miura pushing the pace, using her Judo background to clinch up, but Aragon quickly countered, brought Miura down at just 7 seconds and landed in side control.
Aragon stayed on top despite Miura’s efforts to scramble out. Thankfully, Miura got hold of Aragon’s head and arm for the scarf hold armlock and successfully reversed position at 2:05.
At 2:20, she was able to lock in the submission, forcing Aragon to tap.
Miura’s victory by submission added another impressive finish to her record and earned her another Performance of the Night bonus.
In the top finish of the night, submission grappling champion Kade Ruotolo looked to improve his MMA record to 2-0 against the 10-4 Ahmed Mujtaba in a bout that highlighted Ruotolo’s superb grappling skills, securing the victory in under two minutes.
Round 1 began with a sensing out process on the feet. Despite being known for his grappling skills, Ruotolo showed that he could also strike, as he dropped Mujtaba with an overhand at just 42 seconds.
Within seconds of hitting the mat, Ruotolo swarmed Mujtaba with ground and pound and eventually maneuvered into a Brabo choke position.
At 1:04, Ruotolo locked in the choke, and Mujtaba was forced to tap. The swift and clinical nature of the finish underscored Ruotolo’s reputation as one of the most skilled grapplers in the sport, earning him not only a Performance of the Night bonus, but also the top spot on our countdown!
