Kung Fu League trailer arrives online!

Ensembles and cinematic universes are all the rage these days, so it was obviously only a matter of time before we got one with history’s greatest kung fu masters teaming up for the biggest fight of their lives. That crossover will hit screens later this year in the form of the upcoming “Kung Fu League” which has recently released its first trailer which you can see below!

Under the direction of Jeff Lau, the film brings together the historical kung fu masters Wong Fei-hung, Chen Zhen, Ip Man, and Huo Yuanjia. As the famed mentor of the legendary Bruce Lee, Ip Man, of course, needs no introduction for martial arts fans around the world, and what’s more, “Kung Fu League” will see Dennis To reprise the role, having previously appeared as Ip Man in 2010’s “The Legend is Born – Ip Man”. Andy On of “Black Mask II” and “Once Upon A Time in Shanghai” fame also joins the film as Huo Yuanjia, founder of the Chin Woo Athletic Association, and most famously portrayed by Jet Li in 2006’s “Fearless”.

On’s “True Legend” co-star Vincent Zhao will also appear in the film in the role of Wong Fei-hung, the great Hung Gar master who has previously been portrayed by everyone from Jackie Chan to Jet Li to Sammo Hung, and Zhao himself in “Once Upon A Time in China” 4 and 5, along with the “Wong Fei-hung” television series. Funnily enough, “Kung Fu League” is one of two films this year in which Zhao will assume the role of Wong Fei-hung, the other being the upcoming “The Unity of Heroes”.

Rounding out the “Kung Fu League” is Bruce Lee look-a-like Danny Chan in the role of Chen Zhen, known for portraying the man himself in “The Legend of Bruce Lee” television series, along with 2015’s “Ip Man 3” opposite Donnie Yen. Given Bruce’s own well-known rendition of Chen Zhen in 1972’s timeless classic “Fist of Fury”, fans are in for a treat; more of Mr. Chan channeling the fury of the dragon, which the trailer clearly demonstrates!

“Kung Fu League” is set for release later this year on October 19th. What would your ultimate combination of legendary martial arts masters or sifu team-ups onscreen?
