Iron Fist Season 2 Trailer Arrives!

The Netflix wing of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen the debut of such acclaimed superhero series’ as “Daredevil” and “The Punisher”, yet the solo series devoted to Marvel’s mightiest martial artist, “Iron Fist”, didn’t quite prove to be the slam dunk fans were hoping for. However, things have steadily been looking up for Danny Rand following his appearances in the crossover series “The Defenders”, and his one-episode appearance in the second season of “Luke Cage”. Now, Danny Rand is ready for action once again in the second season of “Iron Fist”, set to release on September 7th, with its first teaser having debuted at last week’s San Diego Comic-Con. Additionally, a second teaser has also arrived online, offering a glimpse at Danny’s time as a kung fu prodigy in the mystical city of K’un-Lun, both of which you can see below!

The first season of “Iron Fist” fed directly into the plotline of “The Defenders”, with Danny Rand and Colleen Wing, played by Finn Jones and Jessica Henwick, tracking down followers of the dark ninja cult known as “The Hand” after an assault on the otherworldly city of K’un-Lun. By the end of “The Defenders”, Danny resolved to protect New York City after the apparent death of Daredevil. Fans would even get a taste of Danny doing exactly that alongside his buddy Luke Cage in the latter’s eponymous second season, in what would arguably prove to be Danny’s most widely-lauded MCU appearance to date, delivering no shortage of teases toward the two’s beloved partnership in the comics.

While not much is currently known about what season 2 of “Iron Fist” will entail, given that the first season ended with a bitter falling out between the two, it’s a foregone conclusion that Danny’s old ally from K’un-Lun, Davos, played by Sacha Dhawan, will make the transition to his arch-nemesis, Steel Serpent. Typhoid Mary, an old enemy of Daredevil’s in the comics, is also set to appear in season two, while British director Toa Fraser, known for his 2014 Maori-epic “The Dead Lands”, is reportedly one of the directors of the season. Given that RZA helmed season one’s best episode (“Immortal Emerges from Cave”) by far, one certainly hopes he’s been corralled back in to direct an episode or two of the second season, too!

“Iron Fist” Season 2 is set to arrive on Netflix on September 7th.
