Ip Man 3 comes Home for the Holidays!

The wait for one of the most highly anticipated martial arts films of the year now has an end in sight – Donnie Yen’s upcoming “Ip Man 3” will make its grand debut this holiday season in China and Hong Kong!

Donnie himself made the announcement via his official Facebook page earlier this week, with an additional bit of exciting news for fans regarding the film’s trailer:

IPMAN 3 coming this Christmas ! It’s OFFICIAL! First trailer will be out end of Sept!

Donnie first began his iconic portrayal of the legendary master of Wing Chun in 2008, and he would go on to reprise the role in the 2010 sequel, which saw him go toe-to-toe with the late Darren Shahlavi. For the third entry in the series, Donnie is joined by Zhang Jin, who previously appeared in another Ip Man-centric film, 2013’s “The Grandmaster“, along with former World Heavyweight Boxing champion Mike Tyson. The film will also be the first of the series, and indeed the first of the recent wave of Ip Man films, to portray the title character’s relationship with his most famous student, Bruce Lee, who will be recreated through CGI for the film.

“Ip Man 3” arrives on December 25th for what is sure to lend to a very striking holiday season in China and Hong Kong. Stay tuned for more updates on the film’s release in English-speaking territories too.  Be sure to check out KFK’s reviews of Donnie’s first two outings as Ip Man here and here!
