Iko Uwais and Ronda Rousey join Mile 22!

Fresh from her recent victory at UFC 184, reportedly the fastest win (14 seconds) in UFC history, it was announced that Ronda Rousey will join the Peter Berg-produced action film “Mile 22”, which will also star Indonesian action star and Silat exponent Iko Uwais. MMA fans and action movie lovers across the board are uniformly ecstatic about the news, as you’d expect!

Producer Peter Berg recently spoke on his enthusiasm of the pairing of the two in the film:

“I am a huge fan of what Gareth (Evans) and Iko did on both ‘Raid’ films and I’m very excited at the possibility of working with Ronda and Iko to create a film in the spirit of this new wave of combat cinema emerging from Indonesia. Ronda and Iko will be a very unique and powerful team.”

The film marks Rousey’s third major onscreen outing, following last year’s “The Expendables 3” and the upcoming “Furious 7”. After the success of “Merantau“, “The Raid: Redemption“, and it’s sequel, Iko Uwais has also begun breaking out big-time outside of his native Indonesia. Following his brief appearance in 2013’s “Man of Tai Chi“, Iko is currently set to star in the sci-fi thriller “Beyond Skyline”, alongside his co-star from “The Raid” films Yayan Ruhian, and will also be seen later this year in the highly anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“, also alongside Yayan and Cecep Arif Rahman of “The Raid 2“.

Stay tuned for more news on “Mile 22” as it drops!
