Fight choreographer Ju Kun among missing

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared over Vietnam while en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpar this past weekend. Among the 227 passengers currently missing is kung fu master, stuntman, and fight choreographer Ju Kun, who was set to serve as assistant fight choreographer alongside Brett Chan for the upcoming Netflix series “Marco Polo”.

The series is being penned by John Fusco, best known among martial arts fans as the screenwriter on 2008’s “The Forbidden Kingdom”, which marked the first cinematic team-up of Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

The Weinstein Company, which is set to produce the upcoming series, released a joint statement regarding the disappearing flight with Netflix, where the series will be released after its completion:

“We are deeply saddened by the news about Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Ju Kun, who was on board, was an integral part of our production team and a tremendous talent. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”

Over the course of his career, the 35-year old Ju Kun has frequently worked as a stunt double for Jet Li, and his stunt resume includes films such as “Fearless”, “The Forbidden Kingdom”, “The Grandmaster”, and “The Expendables”. More recently, Ju Kun was seen in an onscreen match-up against Tiger Chen in Keanu Reeves’ “Man of Tai Chi”.

At present, the flight has not been confirmed as a plane crash, and the fate of the passengers aboard remains uncertain. The thoughts and prayers from all of us at Kung Fu Kingdom go out to the families and friends of Ju Kun and the passengers and crew aboard Flight 370.
