Enter The Dragon Remake in the Works!

When it comes to martial arts cinema, few cows are more sacred than “Enter the Dragon”, Bruce Lee’s magnum opus that shot his to posthumous superstardom, and which remains an enduring cultural touchstone to this day. “Daring” doesn’t even begin to describe the idea of remaking one of the most beloved martial arts films of all time, but sure enough, a remake of “Enter the Dragon” is headed our way, with “Atomic Blonde” and “Deadpool 2” director David Leitch in early talks to direct.

Leitch is also well-known to action fans for his work as co-director of 2014’s “John Wick”, alongside his fellow alumnus of 87 Eleven Action Design, Chad Stahelski. Prior to his transition into directing, Leitch, as well as Stahelski, worked extensively as a Hollywood stuntman, with credits on such high profile action films as “300”, “Ninja Assassin”, “Conan The Barbarian”, “Jupiter Ascending”, “Fight Club”, and countless others. Leitch is also attached to direct the newly greenlit spinoff of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, “Hobbs and Shaw”, set for release on August 2, 2019, indicating that the “Enter the Dragon” remake will still be quite a ways off.

While there’s little more information on the project at the moment, the obvious elephant in the room is who will be cast in Bruce Lee’s iconic role of the Shaolin martial artist from the original? Given their respective backgrounds in portraying the man himself, names like Jason Scott Lee and Phillip Ng will probably spring to the minds of a lot of fans, while Tiger Chen or Donnie Yen (who is best known for his portrayal of Bruce’s Wing Chun mentor in the “Ip Man” films) would also seem likely contenders for the role. In any case, the question of who will tackle the role made legendary by Bruce Lee is sure to remain a heavily-speculated topic as more information on the “Enter the Dragon” remake rolls out – going hand-in-hand with the equally intense speculation on the English language remake of “The Raid”!
