Crouching Tiger 2 to hit Netflix on release!

Thanks to the ever cosying relationship between The Weinstein Company and Netflix, we can now see the sequel to Ang Lee’s wonderful Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon on the same day it hits theatres, which is August 28th 2015.  This applies to Netflix worldwide.

Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said he hoped this deal would show Hollywood that the time had come to respond to what movie fans wanted, and to change the traditional method for releasing films — first in theaters then, typically several months later, for streaming.

“What I am hoping is that it will be a proof point that the sky doesn’t fall,” Mr. Sarandos said. “These are two different experiences, like going to a football game and watching a football game on TV.”

So now you can opt for the home experience without all the overpriced concessions, and make a party of it, or choose the big screen/big sound experience.  Either of which I’m sure will delight fans everywhere, maybe even deciding to do both!
