Beyond Skyline preview released online!

As martial arts fans in the Western world continue to wait with baited breath for Silat maestro Iko Uwais‘ upcoming thriller “Headshot“, we’ve also received a glimpse at another adventure he has coming up, “Beyond Skyline”, with a juicy, Silat-heavy two-minute preview released over the holiday season that you can see below!

The sequel to the 2010 sci-fi hit “Skyline”, the film reunites Iko with his fellow Silat exponent and co-star from “The Raid: Redemption” and “The Raid 2“, Yayan Ruhian. Frank Grillo, of “The Purge” series and “Captain America: Civil War“, also joins the film, under the direction of filmmaker Liam O’Donnell. The upcoming sequel will reportedly take place concurrently with its predecessor, with Grillo portraying a detective attempting rescue his son from invading alien forces. Iko portrays the leader of the human resistance, Sua, while Yayan plays the more cryptic role of “The Chief”.

Grillo, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who was previously attached to the forthcoming American remake of “The Raid”, has gained significant notoriety for his appearances in “The Purge” series and as Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with the MMA-themed series “Kingdom” as well as 2011’s “Warrior”. In addition to “Beyond Skyline”, 2017 will also see Grillo alongside Wu Jing in the upcoming “Wolf Warrior 2”.

“Beyond Skyline” is set to release sometime in 2017, with a full trailer reportedly coming in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more news as it trickles down!
