Heroes Reborn Arrives on DVD/Blu-ray!

As summer has officially kicked off , “Captain America: Civil War” isn’t the only game in town for superhero enthusiasts. Fans of the mid-2000’s sci-fi series “Heroes” are now able to get their hands on the home media release of the 2015 follow-up mini-series, “Heroes Reborn”!

Created by television veteran Tim Kring, this refreshing X-Men-esque series follows a group of young people across the planet who discover they possess superhuman abilities. The official synopsis released by Universal Studios gives fans a glimpse at what they can expect from the new mini-series:

“Picking up several years after the original series and 12 months after a terrorist attack in Odessa propelled anyone with extraordinary powers into hiding, the world is a dangerous place. Vigilantes are hunting down the super-powered population as they seek retribution for Odessa and those with nefarious motives pull strings from afar.

Two such vigilantes include Luke (Zachary Levi, Chuck) and Joanne (Judi Shekoni, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), who are seeking to avenge a tragic loss. Noah Bennet, a.k.a. H.R.G. (Jack Coleman, Heroes), has gone off the grid, but conspiracy theorist Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski, A to Z) finds him and opens his eyes to the truth behind the Odessa tragedy.

Also returning to the Heroes fold are Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), amongst others.  Together, their ultimate destiny is to save the world and mankind, all over again.

The series also stars Robbie Kay (Once Upon a Time), Gatlin Green (Criminal Minds), Danika Yarosh (Shameless US), Kiki Sukezane (Death Yankee 3), Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door) and Rya Kihlstedt (Masters of Sex).”

Of course for lovers of martial arts, the marriage of motion capture to fight choreography is one of the best ways to enliven super-powered fight sequences with traditional arts of combat, something the sword wielding Miko Otomo aka “Katana Girl” proves throughout the series. In fact, you can see some of the hard work that goes into motion capture and the way in which traditional martial arts can be used to bring super-powered fighting styles to life in some candid behind-the-scenes B-Roll footage.

A must-watch for sci-fi aficionados as well as fans of the original series, “Heroes Reborn” explodes onto Blu-ray and DVD from today, 9 May!
