Fun Friday – Master Ken’s advice for “Kickboxer” reboot!

The upcoming reboot of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s cult classic “Kickboxer” is shaping up to be a dream come true for martial arts fans. (Another Van Damme classic, “Bloodsport”, is set to get an all-female reboot treatment itself with Bey Logan’s upcoming “Lady Bloodfight”.) The film will mark the first leading man outing for accomplished stunt man and martial artist Alain Moussi, whose past stunt credits include “Brick Mansions”, “Pacific Rim”, and “X-Men Days of Future Past”. Former pro-wrestler Dave Bautista, known for his recent appearances in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Man with the Iron Fists” will also join the cast, as will former UFC champion Georges St. Pierre, fresh off his recent kick-laden appearance in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. And though their involvement is not quite set in stone yet, Scott Adkins and Tony Jaa have recently been announced as joining the project, as well, marking their first appearance together onscreen. There’s simply no denying that the “Kickboxer” reboot is quickly becoming one of the most hotly anticipated martial arts films on the horizon!

However, when it comes to crafting the film’s action sequences, it’s safe to say that any combination of classical martial arts just won’t cut it for today’s audiences. And really, when we live in a world where Master Ken and his unbeatable street lethal art of Ameri-Do-Te have consistently proven themselves to be, as Ameri-Do-Te students say, the “Best of all, Worst of none”, it’s time for action filmmakers to step up their game and show the world some real martial arts action! Naturally, Master Ken himself agrees, and recently paid a visit to Alain Moussi during one of his rigorous training sessions for the upcoming film. The film’s fight choreography is set to be handled by acclaimed action director and stunt coordinator Larnell Stovall, whose past credits include ““Never Back Down 2: The Beatdown”, “Mortal Kombat: Legacy”, “Undisputed 3: Redemption”, and “The Raid 2”. With a resume like that, it’s certainly easy to understand Stovall’s popularity among action and martial arts fans, but Master Ken has revealed to Alain Moussi one secret, never-before-seen Ameri-Do-Te technique that he feels should be incorporated into the film’s fight choreography. And after seeing it, you’ll agree that it’s time to forget Scott Adkins trademark Guyver Kick! If Moussi, Stovall and the team behind the “Kickboxer” reboot heed Master Ken’s advice, incorporating Master Ken’s top-secret Ameri-Do-Te technique could very well make the “Kickboxer” reboot one of the greatest martial arts films of all time, if not, THE greatest!
