Fun Friday – Master Ken teaches blocking techniques!

All too often, the general public thinks of martial arts purely in offensive terms, and the same is also frequently true of newcomers to martial arts and even the occasional seasoned veteran. The mindset of many seems to be best described as “The best defense is a strong offense” when it comes to combat, and in truth, that philosophy of fighting is generally correct. However, one must never go into battle solely concerned with how they intend to defeat the enemy; we must also be equally concerned with the offense and defense that the opponent employs, and train ourselves to respond accordingly. Unfortunately, this is an aspect of fighting that is easily overlooked. One need only look at sparring matches in most dojos, full-contact fighting between kickboxers and MMA fighters, and almost any other form of combat training or competition – it’s clear that the fighters are almost entirely concerned with landing their offensive techniques, with defensive maneuvers such as blocks, traps, parries, throws, and what have you being almost completely absent.

Once again, this is where Master Ken, founder of the unconquerable art of Ameri-Do-Te and the world’s only 11th degree black belt, comes in. As the most powerful martial artist to ever walk the face of the Earth, Master Ken has spent his life studying every martial art ever devised, filtering out the weak points of each whilst collectively all of their respective strengths to form the unstoppable combat arsenal of Ameri-Do-Te. This eclectic approach to fighting is the origin of the catchphrase popular among Ameri-Do-Te practitioners, “Best of All, Worst of None”. It is Master Ken’s theory that the reason why defensive maneuvers are so frequently overlooked by millions of martial artists is for the simply reason that the defensive techniques found in every martial art other than Ameri-Do-Te are useless, ineffective, and a complete waste of time, and point he aims to prove in this week’s episode of his acclaimed web-series “Enter the Dojo”. Regardless of whichever form of non-Ameri-Do-Te psuedo-martial arts you practice, be sure to watch Master Ken’s analysis carefully, and you will be able to count yourself as one of the approximately billions of people he has helped through the spread of Ameri-Do-Te!
